The Runaway Queen, by Cassandra Clare & Maureen Johnson

After how disappointed I was in What Really Happen In Peru, I waited a few months to buy this book and read it.  Honestly I would have to say this short story redeems the series.  This book by Maureen Johnson has the same energy as The Immortal Instruments Series.  It doesn't have the disjointed feeling from the first book by Sarah Rees Bennan.

This book takes place in 1791 in Paris during the French Revolution with the last remnants of the extreme decadence of the high society of the time.  I was a little puzzled that he was in both Peru from the first book and Paris in the second book, but whatever.  In this book Magnus finds himself helping an attractive blue eyed man(no surprise there) save the royal family.  The plan is already thought up all he has to do is alter Marie Antoinette's Appearance.  Piece of cake right?

For history buffs out there, you'll notice events and quotes are a little off.  There were a few obvious typos.  But the storyline is written so much better than the first book.

There is never a time or place for true love.  It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment.
