Marinara Sauce
I had a feeling that the weather wasn't going to stay nice for long. But we had a nice break last weekend with it being in the low 60s and sunny. Now we are getting more snow. :( I decided to make something comforting. Tonight we will have Spaghetti and Meatballs. But first to make Marinara Sauce.
Marinara Sauce
3 tbsp Olive Oil
1 med Onion, chopped
6 cloves Garlic, minced
2 tbsp Red Wine
1 (28 ounce) can Crushed Tomatoes
1 tbsp fresh or 1 tsp dried Oregano
1 tbsp fresh or 1 tsp dried Basil
1 tbsp fresh or 1 tsp dried Parsley
1 Bay Leaf
1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
Salt & Pepper to taste
Currently I've ran out of fresh herbs so resorting to dried since my local grocery is out of stock. Use what you have obviously.
Over medium heat saute onions for 3 to 4 minutes. Add garlic and saute for another minute. Add the red wine and deglaze the pan. Add the tomatoes and herbs. Turn the heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
Serve over the pasta of your choice and enjoy!
Everything you see I owe to Spaghetti.
