Weekend Wrap-Up
Friday my son went on a scavenger hunt at Franklin Mills Mall. I was shocked at the five page list they handed out with only two hours to complete the scavenger hunt in. Jaiden is 14 so it was difficult to complete on time, but this was open to kids as young as five years old. His friend that was helping him was 13 and his sister was 11.
It's impossible to walk from one end of the mall to the other in less than 30 minutes. So we had a lot of running. Of course I was smart and wore a dress, lol. For the scavenger hunt we had to fill in store slogans, collect random junk, taking pictures of different areas of the mall and send them to the school. By the time 2pm came around we were tired from running everywhere and really really hungry. So we went to Dave and Busters for lunch.
We love this place. We almost always do their eat and play packages. If you're unfamiliar with Dave and Busters it's like a more mature Chuck E. Cheese. The one in Plymouth Meeting has a sports bar on the top flour and games on the lower floor. The prizes are a bit better then Chuck E. Cheese as well. They have things like xboxs, games, and the usual stuffed animals and such. Though I'd go there just for their food alone. I'm loving their new chicken, bacon, macaroni and cheese. Out of all the places in Philly we have tried, their mac and cheese is by far the best. The perfect balance of smoky bacon, crispy chicken and a sharp cheddar sauce. Of course for dessert we had to get their chocolate fondu. As you can see below it's plenty for three people to share.
Saturday we decided to go see the Pompeii Exhibit at The Franklin Institute downtown. Unfortunately They didn't allow photography. :(
I'd seen this exhibit once before when I was a kid. I can say if you have seen it before this one is definitely worth seeing again. They've brought a different collection of artifacts and castings. My only complaint was that they let too many people go through it at one time. It was really really hot and so crowded it took forever to see each piece. Afterwards we decided to check out Liberty Bar & Grill. Since we had heard some really good things about their burgers.
We had a really weird experience. We went in ordered a couple of beers and were told that the cook was running late if we wanted food it shouldn't be too long. A hour later they still had no idea where their cook was. We paid our tab and head off to a curry shop we have been wanting to try, Philadelphia Chutney Company.
I'm really torn about this shop. We were given a gift certificate to this restaurant and the server refused to honor it. Though I would have to say the Arugula, Avocado, Chicken Dosa Will ordered and the the Arugula, Onion and Chicken Dosa I ordered were really good.
For the two with two drinks our bill was about $24 so not horribly expensive. Just not sure about places that sells gift certificates and then refuse to take them.
After our late lunch we headed out to King of Prussia Mall and I finally found a new ceramic skillet at Macy's and some beautiful new sheets that even Will liked at Bloomingdales. So the weekend overall wasn't bad, just a little bit of bad luck with restaurants.
In life, more than anything else, it isn't easy to end up alive.
